Decolourisation

CPL Carbon Link manufactures a range of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and Powdered Activated Carbons (PAC) products for decolorisation applications. The key features of these products include optimum product selection, effective removal of colour bodies and maximum removal of adsorbent during mechanical filtration 

Discoloured liquid is either passed through columns containing granular activated carbon using a high residence time, or powdered activated carbon is added to the liquid, which after a period of mechanical agitation can then be filtered out of the liquid. It is during these stages that the colour bodies are physically adsorbed by the highly porous activated carbon. 

This technique is used in a number of diverse applications such as food and pharmaceutical processing, chemical intermediaries manufacture and soft drink production.
