Biogas Treatment

Siloxanes - Most damaging to the downstream operation of diesel engines and gas turbines fueled by biogas, siloxanes are used extensively in the manufacture of hygiene, healthcare and industrial products and are regularly found in landfill sites where they volatilise into the landfill biogas. The Filtracarb® range of products is particularly suitable for their removal and has been proven to remove more than 99 per cent of both cyclic and linear siloxanes from incoming biogas streams.

The activated carbon pellets used for siloxane removal can be regenerated via a thermal reactivation at our facility in the UK, as explained in our new animated film.

Other contaminants commonly found in biogas streams, particularly in anaerobic digestion (AD) systems, include inorganics such as H2S (hydrogen sulfide) and NH3 (ammonia).  CPL Carbon Link supplies a range of specially impregnated activated carbon grades to tackle these contaminants, which are both odourous and potentially damaging to the equipment.

A recent addition to CPL Carbon Link's product range, specifically targetted at gas-to-grid (G2G) biomethane installations, is a product called Filtracarb® EXR4-D.  This product has exceptionally low levels of moisture and dust, and is ideal for the final gas polishing stage of biomethane G2G facilities.  The product is manufactured in the UK from regenerated 4mm extruded activated carbon pellets and can be delivered in various sized bags as well in one of our Clean-Flo® VOCSorber® mobile carbon filters - shown below.
